Cascara

Cascara

Cascara, from the Spanish word for 'husk', is the dried and pitted fruit of the coffee tree. Though Cascara can be brewed in a variety of ways, we recommend brewing it like an herbal tea. It's aroma and flavor evoke fruit leather - dried cherry, raspberry, and currant. Our Cascara comes from Colombia - more specifically, from Palestina in the State of Caldas.

Recommended brewing instructions:

Hot:



  1. 3 Tbsp Cascara : 10 ounces of water (15-17 grams Cascara : 295 grams water)


  2. Use approximately 200 degree water or 30 seconds off boil


  3. Steep 4 minutes


  4. Strain and serve



Cold:


  1. 4 Tbsp Cascara : 12 ounces water (20 grams Cascara : 355 grams water)


  2. Use cool water


  3. Steep 12 - 24 hours


  4. Strain and serve
