    Genmaicha

    GENMAICHA
This is a specialty Japanese green tea that is blended with fire-toasted rice. A good grade Japan sencha is blended with the toasted rice. The fresh vegetative character of the green tea is imparted on the cup but it is tempered with the bakey-like character of the rice. There is a natural sweetness and almost chewy character to the finish of this tea.  During the firing of the rice, it is not uncommon for rice to ‘pop’ not unlike popcorn, hence the pet name ‘popcorn-tea’.

    Green Tea Spice Chai

    GREEN TEA SPICE CHAI
Chai is so prevalent in India and Sri Lanka that it could be called the ‘National drink’. It is very common to see the ‘tea wadis’ serving their chai to the walk-by street traffic. In North America we have the coffee carts; in the sub continent and Sri Lanka you have the ‘wadis’. Paint the following picture in your mind: the tea wadis cart has that ‘well used’ look (read - bashed, dented), quite often with a charcoal fire going keeping the water boiling so steam and smoke are rising,  an old evaporated milk can full of sugar, another bashed and dented can with the masala chai spices, an eclectic collection of semi -clean mugs and glasses and a  wizened chai expert deftly pouring back and forth from great heights, tea with spices and milk,  combining the two ingredients. Once combined it is normal to add a fantastic amount of sugar for that real chai experience.

    Jasmine Dragon Tears

    Organic
    JASMINE DRAGON TEARS
Jasmine Dragon Tears are made from the top two leaves and the bud of new season growth (Late March /early April). These delicate leaves are then layered with fragrant jasmine flowers before they are rolled by hand into the small pearls. When you infuse these pearls in your tea cup, you will see the top two leaves and the bud come to life. In fact you will see some small ‘hairy down’ on the bud of the leaves - this denotes superb quality and very careful and delicate handling. Jasmine tea is said to ease nervous tension, break down saturated fat, reduce cholesterol and increase circulation.

    Jasmine Scented with Flowers

    JASMINE SCENTED WITH FLOWERS
Jasmine tea is one of the most pleasant tasting green teas available on the market.  On the nose the dry tea has a floral bouquet which literally causes your senses to come alive with pleasant thoughts.  The flavor is enhanced with the addition of jasmine blossoms which give the tea a visual appeal few other teas are capable of copying.   Produced in both China and Taiwan, jasmine tea yields a cup with all the concentrated heady bouquet of a garden in bloom.

    Lung Ching Dragonwell

    LUNG CHING DRAGONWELL
Lung Ching Tea, also known and Dragon Well, is produced by hand through a 10 part process. Dragon Well is distinguished by its beautiful shape, emerald color, scented smell and tending sweet floral character.  Legend has it that in 250 AD a Taoist monk affirmed that there must be a dragon lurking in a certain spring not far from Hangchow. The monk implored the well dragon to come to the rescue of the poor farmers suffering a crippling drought. Instantly the clouds came rushing in from every side and poured forth a timely rain. One account of this, an old temple adjoining the spring is know as Dragon’s Well Monastery, and the tea derives its name from the same legend.

    Sencha

    SENCHA
The production of green tea in Japan entails the steaming of the green leaf and hand or machine rubbing.  The teas are then pan fried or basket fired which gives them a distinctive appearance and glossy look and feel.  These methods give a taste that is light in color but rich and full in the cup.  Sencha is commonly used in Japanese tea ceremonies marking events of personal importance. In this type of ceremony it is the ritual that is of paramount importance as the individual is being acknowledged.  The flavor is grassy and smooth with reasonable depth and body.

    Sencha Cherry Rose

    SENCHA CHERRY ROSE
During the spring, parts of Japan are ablaze with the new season cherry blossoms, and the air is filled with their sweet aroma.  The Sencha Cherry Rose is intended to simulate these delicate cherry blossoms, and the flavor is reminiscent of the beautiful smells waft on the springtime breezes.  The green tea is actually a Japanese-style green tea from China’s Hunan Province.
