The Gomez family is a great example of the benefit of coffee growing being passed on through generations in rural Colombia. Their 6-hectare farm is situated in prime coffee-growing land and at an altitude of nearly 2,000 meters above sea level. With 100% Caturra varietal being grown, the Gomez family continues to produce truly delicious coffee. Originally belonging to their father, the farm is currently being managed by four brothers and sisters (Alvaro, Juan, Gloria and Fabiola) and their families. After his death over a decade ago they all stepped in to take over the farm along with their mother Isuara Martinez. Each of the siblings and Isuara manage their own plot and live in different houses around the property. The family all harvest and process the coffee together in the farm’s original wet mill. This is the third year in a row Metropolis has purchased this coffee and it is quickly becoming one of the gems we look forward to every year.
