What’s Coffee?

Everyone recognizes a roasted coffee bean, but you might not recognize an actual coffee plant.

Coffee is a brewed drink prepared from roasted coffee beans - the seeds of berries from certain flowering plants in the Coffea genus. From the coffee fruit, the seeds are then separated to produce a stable, raw product: unroasted green coffee. Finally, the seeds are roasted, transforming them into a consumable and tasty product: roasted coffee, which is ground into fine particles typically steeped in hot water before being filtered out, producing that cup of joe we all crave.
