FAQ's

• How much caffeine is in decaf coffee? How do you decaffeinate coffee?

  Hardly any. Really. We promise. We use two decaffeination processes. The water process uses only water and pressure to remove the caffeine. Or the sugarcane process, which uses a natural solvent made from sugarcane to remove the caffeine. We never use the chemical process decaf.

• What’s the difference between coffee beans and espresso beans?

  Absolutely nothing! There isn’t a particular plant that produces espresso beans—they’re all coffee beans. Our Redline Espresso Blend™ makes delicious espresso and a great cup of coffee. Don’t let labels limit you.

• I see your bag has flavors listed on it, but do you guys actually put that stuff in the coffee?

  Nope. Not at all. The only thing you’ll find in your bag of Metropolis coffee is freshly roasted coffee beans. The flavors we list on the bag are just the most agreed-upon flavor notes our team picks up while tasting the coffee. While the coffee may remind us of certain flavors, it doesn’t mean you won’t notice something different. Our flavor notes are merely there to help you pick a coffee you’ll love. • How long will my Metropolis Coffee stay fresh?

  Once you open the bag, we’d encourage you to finish it within a couple of weeks for best results, but it won’t spoil if you don’t. It just won’t taste quite as good.

• What kind of grinder should I get?

  This is a rabbit hole, but we’d encourage you to invest in a burr grinder over a blade grinder. A burr grinder lets you grind consistently, and a uniform grind is critical to an even extraction, making for a more delicious cup.

  We currently accept all major Credit Cards and Paypal.

• How do I know if my order has been received?

  You’ll receive a confirmation email from us briefly after placing your order on our website. If you don’t see a confirmation email for some reason, be sure to check your spam box first!   Since 2003 we’ve been located in the heart of our beloved Edgewater community—1039 West Granville Avenue, Chicago, IL 60660. Truly a nexus for people from all over the world, Metropolis is a bustling, high-energy joint, renowned for intuitive, kind, and fast service, stellar coffee drinks, local snacks, and absolutely the freshest coffee beans in town (delivered daily from our award-winning roasterie down the street). • How can I book a Roasterie Tour?

  Visit our Roasterie page or email us at tours@metropoliscoffee.com to reserve a spot. Note that we’ve paused tours temporarily due to COVID-19.

Subscriptions

• How do I sign up for a subscription?

  ​​To subscribe, all you have to do is place a subscription (auto-refill) order! All of your subscriber benefits will remain active for as long as you have an active subscription. Visit our Subscription page for more information.

• What can I change within my subscription?

  You’ve got the power when it comes to changing your subscription. You can change the frequency of your shipments, add or swap flavors and products, skip your next delivery, and more. You can manage these by logging into your account. Visit our Subscription page here for more information.

• How do I cancel my subscription?

  You can cancel anytime! Simply login to your account or contact us at info@metropoliscoffee.com. Need more information? Visit our Subscription page here!

• How do I pause my subscription?

  Simply login to your account and click the “edit” box next to your subscription. You’ll see an option to skip shipments.

• How can I change my subscription?

  Login to your account at the top of your page. Click the “swap” box below your subscription. Switch up your coffee or tea flavors as you wish and click “Add to order.” Finally, click the “subscribe” box below the new item.

• Can I use a promotional code on my subscription?

  At this time, we’re not accepting promotional codes on subscriptions.

Rewards

• How do I participate?

  There are many ways to earn rewards! Start by opting into our loyalty program, earn points while shopping, and redeem those points at checkout. • Can I combine my rewards points with another promotional code?

  Right now, we only accept one promotion or discount code per order.

• Can I use a promotional code on my subscription?

  At this time, we’re not accepting promotional codes on subscriptions.

• How do I apply my rewards discount code to my subscription?

  To redeem/apply rewards points, you can login to your account at the top of this page, click on the rewards button on your screen, and click the “redeem now” button.

Shipping & Returns

• How much do you charge for shipping?

  We offer free shipping for all retail orders over $50! For retail orders under $50, shipping charges will be calculated and displayed at checkout. For more information about our Shipping and Returns policy, we’re breaking it all down here.

• Do you ship internationally?

  ot over the website, no, but go ahead and drop us an email at info@metropoliscoffee.com. Maybe we can hack it together for you. We hate to see people go without some Metropolis in their lives!

• How can I receive free shipping?

  Once in a while, we’ll offer special promos, but we always offer free shipping on retail orders over $50!

• Which carrier do you use to ship?

  We partner with USPS, UPS, FedEx to ship our products

• Where’s my tracking info?

  After you place your order, you’ll receive an email containing your tracking information. If you haven’t received an email confirmation, be sure to check you spam or junk folder just in case! • How long will it take for my order to arrive?

• What is your return policy?

  We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on our coffee and tea (as long as it remains unopened). Purchases of brew gear and apparel are non-refundable except if the product is defective. If that’s the case, please contact info@metropoliscoffee.com and provide pictures of the damaged product to initiate your return. To start the return process, please use this link to get your UPS prepaid return label. Please note that returns may take up to between 5-7daysto process and for you to see a full refund. Your refund will be applied within 24 hours of receipt of the returned item.

• What if my product arrives damaged?
